Post-Summer Productivity
As we ease our way out of Summer and into September, it’s very common to feel either overwhelmed with the post vacation workload and less productive while the seasons change. It’s also likely that many of your team will be struggling to get back into usual productivity levels following the holiday season. Allow us to share a few ways to encourage productivity and combat the Autumnal blues!
Ensure staff are taking breaks regularly
September is often a busy time with many projects launching and deadlines arising, making it very easy for some of us to work constantly and ignore our brain and body’s natural cues. Even taking a quick walk to grab a drink helps clear the mind and promotes productivity!
Organise your tasks into a to do list
A useful model of this is known as the Eisenhower Matrix, a grid which is divided into four quadrants: urgent vs not urgent, and important vs not important.
Ease into the workload
Start small. Check your inbox, but don’t rush to read and reply to everything - not every email requires an immediate response. Where possible, stagger the number of tasks assigned to employees as the week(s) go on.
Educate your staff about burnout
The most powerful tool for well-being and productivity is knowledge. Spreading awareness about the signs of burnout, the impact it has on an individual and how to get help can massively improve the morale and quality of work of your team!
Revamp your office space
If your company has it’s own office, consider making a few design changes that promote productivity. This could be anything from changing your building’s bulbs for warmer-toned ones (proven to promote cognitive functions and creative thinking) or adding a few plants to the office (which reduce stress levels and improve air quality).
